The black boot has long been a wardrobe staple, and in my closet there are about six pairs that fight for the spotlight. There is the chelsea boot, the heeled bootie, the over-the-knee boot and so on, yet each has it's own purpose depending on the occasion. I would be lying if I didn't admit an existing shoe problem added to the ease of investing in these Jeffrey Campbell beauties, but even the faint of heart need to add a standout black boot to their collection. Now I am not advocating to shy away from classics, just suggesting to choose a boot that makes the look, rather than completes it. The lucite heel is a subtle difference with a large impact, giving it's own finishing touch. Whether it is a dress or pants, any outfit is complemented by these shoes, making them worth the investment.

Usually on the other side of the lens, Catherine of @Beautifullyspent has developed a keen eye for the unique and charming. She has a way of taking something that would look so simple to others and transforming it into something visually remarkable. Although she is usually taking the pictures, her appreciation for all things beautiful translates to her wardrobe. Both her creative and purposeful nature drives Catherine to see beyond what is in front of her. The Adidas sneaker trend has been around for awhile leaving few feet untouched, which can lessen it's appeal, but Catherine saw a must-have. They have evolved from white sneakers to Stan Smiths, yet none can touch these black and white Adidas Superstars in this Cincinnati native's mind. All it took was spotting someone on the 6 train downtown in NYC wearing them. Their stylish outfit paired down with these casual, comfortable yet cool shoes made her have to have them. Catherine's active lifestyle made her desperate to fill the void of comfort and style on her feet and after one time of snapping photos around the city, she proclaimed these do just the trick.

With an influx of constant visitors and the abundance of extravagant performers who always wear their best looks when on the Vegas strip, it can be difficult to stand out and showcase your personal style. Las Vegas is a melting pot for fashion trends, making finding the one you love overwhelming. However, this is not a challenge Emily cannot handle. She has proven perseverance in her life, time and time again, showing enviable prowess. As a girl who knows what she wants, a trait necessary for success in such an inspiring city, Emily was on a mission to find an off-the-shoulder item. Vintage can be such an intimidating word. Some people are just naturally good vintage shoppers, knowing the exact worth of each item and which stores have the hidden gems. As a self-proclaimed fashion enthusiast, I am embarrassed to admit I lack in the vintage shopping category. While I am able to identify the quality of pieces, determing their worth is where my struggle lies. Time and time again, I have walked away from vintage treasures with sweaty palms and a racing heart, afraid to pull the trigger. More often than not, these items were Levi jeans. These classics have been on my radar for years and finding the perfect pair to satisfy my vintage jean vacancy was beginning to seem like a battle lost. After conceding to my vintage shopping fear, I decided to take a trip to the Levi store to add a new jean win to my record. I tried on several pairs and despite the great fit and inevitable longevity, I could not justify the purchase until these 711's peaked out amongst the dark washed jeans. The color! The style! Emulating vintage characteristics, these blue beauties were exactly what I was looking for. A stand out amongst the dark denim and skinny styles seen on everyone, these 711's complement, rather than supplement the outfit. Although they weren't purchased at a vintage stores, they are sure to earn the title down the road, as these classic jeans earned a spot in my closet forever. ~Abby

As an avid FlirtSkirtorMarry.com reader and undeniably the website's biggest fan, Vicki Ferko, mother to Co-Founder Abby Sonnett, deserves her day in the Fashion spotlight. This special Mother's Day edition of Have to Have it, proves that fashion trends are ageless. While it would be nice to take credit for Vicki's trendsetting fashion sense, her most recent purchase is evidence she knows which items are fashion winners. On a recent mother-daughter shopping trip in New York City's SoHo neighborhood, Top Shop was an essential stop. Their petitite offering caters to Vicki's small frame, while the affordable on-trend items are always a must-see for Abby. Adding to their appeal, they recently started selling Ivy Park. Although the launch crashed Top Shop's website, this new brand remained unknown to Vicki until she had her YES! moment on her way out of the store. She was estatic to find a high-quality sweatshirt that can be worn beyond spectating her grandson's sporting events. The corded details both dress it up and give it dimension that a plain sweatshirt cannot. She also stresses, that it's monochromatic feature is exactly what she has been looking for since all the hoodies feature novelty prints. Further demonstrating her fashion prowess, Vicki mismatches winter whites and pairs the look with classic 501 Levi's in White Tumble. Whether it was Beyonce or Allison's Adidas Sweatshirt post that came to her fashion rescue, FSM's #1 fan will always preach to be true that, Beyonce is Queen, and Flirt, Skirt, or Marry is the go-to resource for accessible fashion trends.

I have always been attracted to the unusual and eye catching when it comes to clothing. Of course I have my everyday denim, blouses, and jewelry to supplement my unique pieces, but it pains me to spend money on basic items that are owned by the masses. Updated hemlines have been seen on the runway consistently at recent fashion weeks, with frayed and asymmetrical emerging as the trim of choice. Not only does this Zara top allow me to embrace fashion trends, it is a nice alternative to the popular off-the-shoulder tops taking street style by storm. I can always count on Zara for affordable and stylish goods, and was thrilled to find this top hidden amongst the top-sellers. The soft crepe material gives it an expensive look and feel, while it's lightweight characteristic is perfect for the upcoming warmer temps. Even better for the girl on-the-go, it eliminates the need for ironing! -Abby, FSM Co-Founder

Growing up a fashion lover in Youngstown, OH was never an easy feat. In a world before fashion blogs and social media, you were educated on the latest fashion by your monthly Seventeen subscription or the affluent girl who never left the house without the newest Coach bag and UGG boots. Shopping trips consisted of weekly visits to the local mall with Express and Fashion Bug at the top of your hit list, and ended with an inexplicable amount of joy when I came home with a large Express purchase. As style access became more abundant due to online shopping, my loyalty to Express, much like Abercrombie & Fitch, significantly faded. I began to overlook their underestimated basic collection or key fashion trend pieces, so imagine my surprise when I came across this denim culotte jumpsuit! I was initially hesitant to order it, unsure of quality and fit, but was beyond satisfied when it arrived. It runs true to size and the denim is sure to last through the inevitable multiple wears this Spring and Summer. In addition, it's denim attribute gives it the versatility for both casual events and a night out. Not only is this item on trend, but it embraces so many elements without being over-the-top, successfully ressurrecting my brand loyalty to Express.

Thanks to MTV and the ever popular Jersey Shore, New Jersey style has been defined by graphic tees and bodycon dresses. This can be a tough stigma to overcome as a Jersey girl with a classic fashion sense like Jessica, but her determination that earned her professional success, proved to work for fashion as well. As the show becomes a distant memory and Snooki's style has evolved to tasteful elegance, Jessica's effortless look remains consistent showing her fashion qualifications. She has the ability to embrace fashion trends and identify pieces that will escalate her look, while staying true to her personal style. Choosing this bold necklace from Bauble Bar, adds contrast to the playfulness of the bow sleeves on the shirt and balances attention above her shoulders, while the girly touches also contrast the ripped denim. Never shying away from the chance to stand out, the neutral tones in the necklace also allow for extra touches such as her bold arm candy. After all, she wouldn't be a Jersey girl if not.

My sweatshirt history is quite extensive. Most of my greatest hits include some classic college hoodies, with a sprinkle of athletic teams, you know, the ones that have really great color combinations. However, my love of a good sweatshirt dates back to high school, and attending a school with a dress code and uniform. “Sweatshirt Day” was a highlight! “Pajama Pant Friday” was a hit! Hoodies and pajamas have come along way from being the ultimate casual Friday gear. I now live in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The University of Michigan is a huge part of town and college sweatshirts are always trending. Originally, I was attracted to this Adidas sweatshirt for the blue floral pattern to stick with the team colors at sporting events and have a different twist among the saturated sea of navy and maize, but now this item is in heavy rotation in my current wardrobe. It’s sporty and chic and a totally versatile item to create any kind of outfit. I throw it over jeans, over a workout outfit on the way to the gym, or even dress it up to go out. So I suppose subsciously I am flirting with the hoodie trend because of my personal hoodie history, but this time “Sweatshirt Day” is so much more than a free day to break away from the dress code. It is the dress code. -Allison, FSM Co-Founder

It never fails, as soon as the football games start and Fall gets closer at the end of August, the ache for boot season sets in. The same can be said when the first warm day makes an appearance and the symptoms of Spring fever start showing. Although diners eating al fresco or the occasional flip flop are inevitable, it does not mean these choices aren't premature. I can't help but shake my head like a Floridian at an Ohio tourist wearing shorts and a t-shirt in 50 degree weather when I undoubtedly see this every March. I would be lying however, if I didn't admit to an internal battle on whether to wear panty hose with my skirts and dresses when warmer temps hit. After years of turmoil and dealing with weather inconsistencies, I have finally found the ideal remedy, socks! I wasn't immediately convinced, but one look at these metallic beauties, I realized a sock this fancy can overcome the socks and sandals stigma. These socks are not only perfect for transitional temps, but also offer eye candy when peeking under your ankle pants with flats. Adding dimension and detail to any look, this affordable necessity makes the itch for sandals season fade away.

Jenna Lyons once said, "As far as I'm concerned, leopard is a neutral." That may be the greatest thing I've ever heard said by a fashion icon, and I applaud Ms. Lyons for helping me validate my borderline obsession. I have actually put myself on leopard shopping probation about 3 times (leopard flats, leopard tops, leopard belt... it had to stop). But there's a reason for my madness. Leopard is classic. It goes with everything and offers just the right amount of edge to any outfit. Classic vibes with a styled edge. Now as for a leopard jacket, well, I obviously had to have one. Every season for about 5 years, a leopard jacket or furry coat makes an appearance in lookbooks and store fronts. It literally never goes out of style and goes with everything: black, white, brown, other prints or bold colors. Whether an outfit is preppy or punk, a leopard jacket can be the perfect way to elevate the look.

When it comes to winter footwear, warmth is obviously the priority and waterproof boots usually reign supreme. But there are always those days when the slush is cleared and the streets are dry, and finally there is an opportunity to rotate in a cute pair of shoes again, feeling free and light, in hopes that winter comes and goes really fast. Cue the oxford loafer! With the menswear and loafers seen in the fall, the oxford loafer easily becomes a transitional shoes between winter and spring. The key here is actually covering the entire foot. Flats are too still too open and bare, but oxfords are just right. There is no question that this shade of blue is fun, versatile, shows signs of spring, yet is still muted and right on point for the winter. Not to mention it coordinates perfectly with the lightweight denim on the spring 2016 horizon. Gotta love the silver hardware details, too.

A person's scent can be a very powerful characteristic, and is known to have the ability to resurrect memories. There is nothing like getting a whiff of Acqua di Gio by Armani or Gap Dream Body Spray and instantly be taken back to the first time you danced with a boy in middle school. As much as I enjoy reminisching about my younger days, minus the braces and unfortunate wardrobe choices, I realize I cannot identify a scent with any of my current memories. I blame not only my inability to stray from the familiar which we learned is also true with jewelry, but also the saturated perfume and cologne market. Anyone that has ever walked the never ending fragrance aisle at Sephora can agree that finding the right one can be challenging and now thanks to Le Labo the perfect scent is no longer a myth. Le Labo has an array of scents to choose from, making finding your signature much easier. The crowd (and my) favorite, Santal 33 has an addictive smell that lingers without becoming overwhelming. The price tag can be discouraging but the brand proves its worth by creating a quality product that lasts and is sure to stand out. Perfect for Valentine's day, it's gender-neutral quality makes it ideal for a dual gift, also making the price tag more reasonable. After all, smell is the strongest sense and a scent that reminds you of your love is no doubt a Have to Have It.

After my sophomore year of college, which is longer ago than I would like to admit, I shunned Abercrombie & Fitch. I would not give their collections a time of day and would tend to pick up the pace as I passed the store. I wish I could say it was because of their discrimation violations or I felt they were overpriced, but the truth is, I felt I became better than the "too-cool" brand. My style was transitioning from preppy and sporty to more trendy and feminine. The brand name's influence no longer ruled my parent's wallet. Luckily, as I continue on my personal fashion journey, I make my purchases based less on who makes them, and more simply on what I like! There is plenty to like about this Abercrombie faux fur coat. Not only is it extremely warm and cozy, it can make any outfit. The detailed fur differentiates it from other fur coats, as well as allows it to complement both brown and black. The coat can embrace the sporty trend if paired with jeans and sneakers or give any evening dress elegance. A wardrobe should never be without this versatile coat!

For someone who is not an avid watcher of the Kardashians clan, I admit that I do possess extreme wardrobe envy of Kendall Jenner and confess to style stalking. In my eyes, she can do no wrong when it comes to fashion and has an undeniable ability to flirt with trends without looking over-the-top. So when I saw her strutting the street in a western inspired belt, I decided it was my next accessory purchase. This was huge for me, as I typically shy away from anything country related, boots and music included. 10 years in New York City makes you a city girl right? If supermodel superstar Kendall Jenner does not convince you, then it's versatility will! Featuring the right details, this belt can be the focal point of any basic outfit, while its neutrality allows it to complement any ensemble. Still not convinced? It can also hold up your pants!

While I can appreciate the great warmth a North Face jacket can offer during sub zero temps and the inevitable blizzard, if I am presented with a less warm, yet strikingly trendy coat, I tend to opt for the latter and shy away from practical items in the name of fashion. It is also never difficult for me to talk myself out of purchasing the necessities when there is an unique item vying for it's spot. This problem is extremely prominent when gloves are on the the shopping list. After all, what are pockets for? So, I could not have been happier when I stumbled upon these Kate Spade New York mittens. Satisfying both the sensible and stylish criteria, I felt I hit the winter preparation jackpot. The fingerless option, due to the mitten cover, doesn't even give me a chance to blame my frequent cell phone usage as an excuse not to buy them. The black and white stripes are versatile and complement any outfit, as well give my look a playful touch.
Reformation continues to not disappoint. I actually said the words, "I Have to Have It," as soon as I saw this dress, and immediately starting racking my brain for excuses to purchase it. I didn't give my rational mind a chance to respond, because within minutes the purchase confirmation email was in my inbox. I told myself it is the perfect dress for a friend's wedding that was 3 months away, particularly because this friend is the fashionable type. Even though her overwhelming approval is usually all I need, it was still gratifying to receive oohs and ahhs from the rest of the wedding guest crowd. I couldn't wait for the chance to don this dress again, and fortunately it's versatile length and subtle sex appeal makes it great for any occasion. The silk fabric can be complemented by most fabrics, making it layering friendly for cooler temps and despite the fact I typically shy away from wearing the same dress for multiple events due to my love of shopping, this wardrobe necessity was the ideal NYE outfit. It is safe to say, it was well worth the investment.

Sometimes silver or gold metallic accessories just aren’t right with an outfit. I’m typically all for mixed metals, but sometimes an outfit calls for streamlined, muted accessories, right? This all-black watch remains neutral in terms of hardware and remains slightly in the shadows from the main event. I may even call it the Boo Radley of watches: Always on the scene watching, but in the end saves the day. And let’s be serious, this classic design and digital timepiece is never going out of style. It easily adapts to current trends like grunge, monochrome, and sporty. This watch is timeless, and an accessory I will be wearing for many trends to come.

As a fanatic for gold and anything personalized, when I saw this cuff on a friend, a day didn't pass until I ordered mine. The size and color makes it an everyday staple. A top handle? Check! Snakeskin? Check! This pint size accessory is the perfect stand out addition to my fashion trend collection. Not only does this tiny tote help eliminate the days of sore necks and backs due to oversized cargo, but the price tag is small as well. I tend to lean towards practical purses that I can wear season after season, yet when I saw this structured bag I decided it was time to expand my horizon's past expensive footwear and statement necklaces for outfit embellishments. Allowing me to flirt with the 70's due to the snakeskin print, I am able to keep my outfit basic and still ensure my look is on trend. I wasted no time getting my hands on it, as the pink hue works for summer and through Fall to Winter as seen on Mary Katrantzou, Jonathan Saunders Fall 2015 runways. My New Year's resolution in 2014 was never leave the house without either heels, lipstick, or a statement necklace, but as you can imagine, like anything, this style tip began to become monotonous. White leather sneakers are the epitome of fresh. All-white sneaks have dominated street style for a few seasons now, but never really left the scene. Sneakers often represent shifts in culture and societal patterns. The evolution of the sneaker can be analyzed over time, but the white sneaker alone has it’s own history: K Swiss, Keds, Chucks, Superaga. The white sneaker has been reinvented for every decade and social scene. With the current sporty trend seen on the runways, top designers have reimagined their own versions of white shoe classics, making them a staple for street style and bloggers alike. But why did I choose these? They are a streamlined and feminine take on Adidas’ throwbacks, and still have the same sporty effect for any outfit I wear.

The first time I wore my Flirty Kiss Mirenesse lip colour sample from my Birch Box two years agos, I lost count of the number of compliments I received. It wasn't until after three hours and 10, "I love your lipstick" 's later, I looked in the mirror to really check out what the buzz was all about. I was shocked to see the color lasted and how well it complemented both my skin tone and outfit. Safe to say I became a Birch Box success story and purchased my own from the Australian brand! As we know, trends are constantly evolving and soon the red lip trend turned into orange and now deep berry. I wasn't sure how well I could pull these looks off, but the trend addict inside of me was absolutely going to flirt with them! The Electric Kiss and Stilleto colors had to be mine. It was no surprise that I instantly fell in love with them as well, and the question of which color to go with quickly became a daily battle.

My recent obsession of The Reformation cannot be summed up in this one dress, but given that it is a simple knit, yet offers so much, I had to have it. The plungining neckline and lace up detail transform what would otherwise be a dress made for comfort, into the whole package alone. Offered in three colors, you can choose the color that best complements your skin tone as well. The metallic trend currently for the summer soon turns into a glittery fall. Let’s be serious, soon enough it will be holiday season and these shiny shades will be ready to go for some sassy festivities. After swooning over the Saint Laurent 70s gold boots, I hit the internet hard to find a more affordable option for this golden shoe glory. These Marc by Marc Jacobs’s gold boots kick up my basic outfits now, and they will become a staple in my future cold-weather ensembles. These are sleek and sexy, but super fun and different! They were a bit of a splurge, but I will have these for a long time, not to mention they will soon be a some what of a collector item! (Marc by Marc Jacobs will soon to be folded into the regular Marc Jacobs brand, and no longer it’s own thing…so devastating!)

Not to mention, it was my first real leather jacket I've ever owned, so check that off in the investment piece milestone list. As a fresh take on black, and still marvelously versatile.
